THE PARALLEL BOYS is a concept album made by COMETCALIGI (formerly CALIGI) and INEPTUNE-EYES. It is a spin-off project for THE POST-TRAUMATIC MANIFESTO by WEEVILDOING.

With this album, I want to explore certain themes of boyhood I’ve experienced throughout my life. It is the other side of towne/weevildoing’s TPTM album which explored their girlhood, the Rowdyruff Boys to TPTM’s Powerpuff Girls ;)

In this day and age, the concept of masculinity and what it means to be a “man” is… complicated to say the least. Growing up assigned male at birth, I’ve experiencing a lot of complex and difficult feelings about it, even as I stepped out of performing that role over the years.

Now as an adult, I sometimes reflect on my days of boyhood with a certain bittersweet fondness, even if most of it was awkward and regrettable on the best of days.

I find the concept that there is a threshold where a “boy” crosses into becoming a “man” to be rather daunting. Maybe because I never completed that metamorphosis, or maybe it’s because we, as a society, fixate so much on this process to begin with.

Regardless, I hope you see parts of yourself in these characters, not just their pain and trauma, but also their dreams and humanity.
